  1. Write a short introduction before each chapter

Do not start chapters straight away from particulars. Write a short introduction in which you will write a few words from yourself, refer to the subject of the work or to the content of previous chapters. You can also mention in a few sentences what you will be discussing in a given chapter. Thanks to this, the promoter will notice that you think, and not only limit yourself to rewriting subsequent definitions.

  1. Write a short ending after each chapter

Do not end the chapter “abruptly”. One or two summary paragraphs look very nice, in which you can write your own thoughts, briefly summarize what the chapter was about, and refer to the topics discussed in the next chapter.

  1. The chapter can not end with a table, a graph or a picture

This is almost always considered a mistake, so you should always write a short summary.

  1. Each chapter starts with a new page

Table of contents, introduction, individual chapters, ending, bibliography, table of tables, drawings, attachments – these elements of work must begin with new pages. To use “page break” when formatting, use the page break, ie before the title of the chapter, press ctr + enter.

  1. Delete double spaces

Often, in the thesis there are double spaces, which are not a serious mistake, but they affect the overall look of the work. It is worth removing them. The best way is to use the Word function replace.

  1. Delete individual characters from the end of the lines

A good practice influencing the assessment of the work is the transfer of connectors “i, a, o, z, z, w” from the end of the line to the new line. How to do it watch below.

  1. Take care of the formatting of the footnotes

Every footnote font 10, Times New Roman, line spacing 1, justified.

  1. Set uniform paragraphs indents

At most universities, the applicable paragraph width is 1.25. I know from experience that students often do not pay much attention to it and the indentation of paragraphs have different widths. Therefore, before returning the whole, check that each paragraph begins with a uniform indentation.

  1. Set the margins

Often students give their jobs without set margins. Therefore, check the width of the margins in the university guidelines and set the required. (Layout – margins – non-standard margins)

  1. Add page numbers

Lack of page numbers is a common mistake that significantly affects the assessment of work. Check where the numbers should be on the page and then add them. Remember that numbers are not inserted on the title page, as well as in the table of contents. See how to delete page numbers.

  1. Unify table descriptions and their formatting

Check that each table has a description in a uniform style and uniform formatting. If you have assumed that the text in the table will be written in font 10, let it be so in the whole work. Also, try not to make very extensive tables, preferably to fit on the page.

  1. Remove the empty space on the pages

I understand that this is sometimes impossible, but try to make as little space as possible on the pages. Empty seats will be noticed immediately and may contribute to a lower rating. Try to fill them with text, change the size of the table, drawing, etc.
